Computer Recycling Services in Atlanta, GA and Surrounding Areas
Who Is Beyond Surplus
Beyond Surplus provides nationwide IT asset management services for organizations retiring end of life IT equipment on any scale. We handle the full disposition lifecycle: pickup and removal, data destruction, certified recycling, asset valuation, and compliance documentation. Colleges, school districts, hospitals, corporations, and government agencies rely on us to manage the close of their IT assets securely and without placing the administrative burden on their internal teams.
Every engagement is closed with a project-numbered IT asset management packet emailed after all equipment has been processed at our Smyrna, Georgia facility. The packet includes an inventory report and a Certificate of Recycling and Data Destruction, giving your organization a single reference document for compliance, audit, and liability purposes.
What IT Asset Management Covers
IT asset management at Beyond Surplus focuses specifically on the end of life phase: the point at which equipment is retired, decommissioned, or replaced. This is where most organizations face the greatest compliance exposure, the highest data security risk, and the most logistical complexity. Beyond Surplus takes ownership of all three.
Our ITAM services cover the full range of business IT equipment: desktops, laptops, servers, storage arrays, networking hardware, switches, routers, UPS systems, monitors, printers, copiers, telecom equipment, and all peripheral devices. We serve single-site organizations retiring a few dozen assets and multi-location enterprises managing technology refresh cycles across dozens of facilities simultaneously.
The highest-value outcome from any retiring asset is reuse. Beyond Surplus evaluates all equipment for remarketing potential before routing anything to recycling or destruction. Equipment with remaining market value is assessed, sanitized to NIST SP 800-88 standards, and remarketed. Proceeds from remarketing are applied as credit or paid directly to qualifying business clients. Equipment that cannot be remarketed is demanufactured and recycled responsibly through R2-certified downstream processors, with zero material sent to landfill.
Responsible Recycling Across Every Asset Category
Beyond Surplus applies a zero-landfill policy to all equipment processed through its IT asset management program. Equipment with remaining market value is remarketed after certified data sanitization. Equipment cleared for recycling is demanufactured into base material categories: metals, glass, plastics, circuit boards, copper wire, and batteries. Each material stream is routed to certified intermediary processors for responsible recycling.
What MAkes Beyond Surplus Unique
Beyond Surplus is registered with the State of Georgia as a certified electronics recycler. All downstream processing vendors are R2 certified, ensuring that responsible handling standards apply at every stage beyond our facility. No hazardous materials from IT equipment are exported to low-regulation disposal markets overseas.
Organizations with ESG reporting requirements, internal sustainability commitments, or third-party environmental audits receive written documentation of compliant, zero-landfill processing for every load as part of the standard ITAM packet. No additional request is required.
Organizations That Use Beyond Surplus for ITAM
Beyond Surplus serves a wide range of organizations with structured IT asset management needs. Each type of client faces distinct compliance requirements, data security obligations, and disposal volumes.
Corporations and Enterprises
Large organizations managing recurring technology refresh cycles across departments or multiple locations need a reliable, documented ITAM process. Beyond Surplus coordinates multi-site pickups nationwide, produces serialized inventory records for every load, and issues project-numbered compliance packets that integrate into corporate asset retirement workflows.
Healthcare Systems and Medical Facilities
Hospitals, clinics, and healthcare networks retiring IT equipment must comply with HIPAA and ensure that all storage media is destroyed beyond recovery before any device leaves their custody. Beyond Surplus provides serialized hard drive destruction records documenting each drive’s serial number, destruction method, and date, giving healthcare organizations the individual asset-level documentation required for HIPAA compliance audits.
Financial Institutions and Government Agencies
Banks, law firms, and public sector organizations manage sensitive data on retiring equipment that must be disposed of in compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, and applicable federal data destruction standards. Beyond Surplus data destruction methods meet all applicable standards, and every job produces a Certificate of Data Destruction serving as legal documentation of compliant processing.
Educational Institutions
School districts and universities routinely retire large volumes of student and administrative devices during technology refresh cycles. Beyond Surplus manages bulk pickup from campus facilities, produces per-asset inventory records aligned with school district asset management requirements, and handles all data destruction for student device fleets without additional cost for standard DoD wiping.
Data Centers and Cloud Providers
Data center decommissions require precise chain-of-custody documentation, serialized destruction records for every storage device, and logistics capable of handling dense rack environments. Beyond Surplus provides technicians for server and network equipment deinstallation, serialized hard drive shredding with per-drive certificates, and full ITAM packet documentation for every decommission project.
On-site or remote inventory submission
Submit your equipment list online or by email, or request a Beyond Surplus representative to conduct an on-site inventory assessment at your facility. We can work from a client-provided asset list or build one during the removal process.
Pickup, removal, and logistics coordination
Our team handles all aspects of equipment removal: deinstallation of rack-mounted servers and networking hardware, palletizing, loading, and nationwide transportation.
Asset valuation and remarketing
All equipment is assessed for residual market value upon arrival at our Smyrna facility. Equipment cleared for remarketing is sanitized per NIST SP 800-88 guidelines and processed for resale. Clients receive fair market value assessments before any equipment is committed to a disposition path.
Certified data destruction at no charge
Every storage device receives DoD 5220.22-M three-pass data erasure as a default step at no cost. Physical shredding is performed on all drives deemed non-functional, too old, or specified for destruction by the client. All data destruction is completed in-house at our Smyrna facility.
Asset tag and identifying mark removal
Beyond Surplus removes all asset tags, stickers, and identifying marks from every unit during intake processing, eliminating the risk of asset identification information accompanying equipment into downstream processing channels.
Photo documentation of receipt
Equipment is photographed upon arrival at our warehouse. A delivery report is included in the ITAM packet, providing visual confirmation of transfer and an itemized record of what was received.
Project-numbered ITAM compliance packet
After all equipment has been processed, Beyond Surplus emails a complete ITAM packet. The packet includes an inventory report, a Certificate of Recycling and Data Destruction, and a Certificate of Destruction for any shredded drives.
Inventory Reporting Options
Beyond Surplus offers three levels of inventory documentation, allowing organizations to match their reporting requirements to their compliance obligations and internal asset management standards.
Certificate of Recycling and Data Destruction
Included at no cost with every job. This certificate confirms that all equipment was recycled responsibly and all data storage media was destroyed beyond recovery. It serves as a contractual transfer of liability from your organization to Beyond Surplus and functions as your primary compliance document for regulatory audits.
Basic Inventory List
Available for a nominal fee. The basic inventory list documents the quantity and type of each item received, for example: 47 laptops, 12 desktop computers, 8 monitors, 3 servers. This level of documentation supports internal asset retirement records and basic IT department reporting requirements.
Serialized Inventory List
Available for a per-asset fee. The serialized inventory list documents each individual asset by item type, manufacturer, model, and serial number. This level of documentation is required for HIPAA compliance in healthcare settings, for federal agency IT disposal reporting, and for enterprise IT asset management systems that track assets through their full lifecycle. Serialized records are delivered as part of the project-numbered ITAM packet after processing is complete.
Data Destruction Standards for End of Life IT Equipment
All data destruction at Beyond Surplus is performed in-house at our Smyrna, Georgia facility. No destruction work is outsourced or subcontracted at any stage. Every storage device processed as part of an IT asset management engagement receives one of the following methods based on device condition and client requirements.
