Pike County, created in 1822, pulled lands from part of Monroe County. The county name and that of its county seat honor Zebulon Pike who in 1805 led an expedition to trace the Mississippi River to its source. Pike County is a county located in the west central portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,869. The county seat is Zebulon. Pike County is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
