About Rockdale County
Rockdale County, located in the north-central part of Georgia, is one of the smallest counties in the state by land area, encompassing just 132 square miles. Despite its size, it plays a vital role in the Atlanta metropolitan area and has seen steady growth in population and infrastructure over the years. The county was established in 1870 from portions of Newton and Henry counties and is named after Rockdale Baptist Church, itself named for the granite strata that underlie the region. The county seat and only incorporated city in Rockdale County is Conyers, a vibrant city that serves as the cultural and economic hub of the area.
